Stir-fried Garlic Flowers

I saw these fresh garlic flowers on sale at the local provision store and thought I should give this a try since I have not cook with them before.  Since the stalks looked pretty similar to asparagus (at least to me they were), I had decided to try cooking them the way I would stir frying asparagus.  I'm glad I gave these garlic flowers a try because they turned out to be pretty delicious!

The whole of garlic flowers stalks are soft and crunchy and all edible.  just cut into short lengths of about 2 inches for easy cooking

Here's how I cook this delicious dish....

Ingredients:-

150g fresh garlic flowers, cut into 2 inches lengths
1 red chilli, finely diced
3 shallots, finely diced
40g dried shrimps, soak to soften
A tablespoon of premium oyster sauce
pinch of salt
A tablespoon of water
A tablespoon of chinese cooking wine
2 tablespoon cooking oil

Heat up wok or frying pan with oil  and fry shallots till fragrant.  Add the dried shrimps and continue frying until shrimps are nicely golden brown.  Add the garlic flowers and chilli, stir frying to coat with oil, then add the water and continue frying till water is almost dry. The purpose of my adding water is to create hot steam to cook the garlic flowers faster.  Add the wine, oyster sauce and salt to taste and dish out. Serve this with rice.

This was so delicious! I know I would definitely be cooking more of these crunchy and sweet garlic flowers:D
